The Echuca Racing Club has received a boost ahead of the 2019 Echuca Cup as part of a $187,000 joint funding package.
The Victorian Government has contributed more than $46,000 from the Victorian Racing Industry Fund towards infrastructure upgrades.
The project included resurfacing the horse float area and stalls entrance to make it suitable for all weather conditions. These upgrades will improve safety and accessibility for horses, staff and riders. The Echuca Racing Club and Racing Victoria have contributed more than $25,000 each towards the infrastructure upgrade.
The Victorian Government is also providing $27,000 as part of a joint funding package worth almost $90,000 to support the Echuca Cup race meeting on Sunday 10 March 2019.
The Echuca Racing Club will provide more than $50,000 to the Cup, Country Racing Victoria more than $8,000, the Riverine Herald over $3,000 and $1,600 will come from in-kind contributions.
Racegoers will enjoy plenty of entertainment at the 2019 Echuca Cup including live music from Tyler Hudson and Jade Camden, a Fashions on the Field competition, roving performances and activities for children and young adults alike.
Since 2014, the government has provided almost $720,000 to support 10 infrastructure projects and seven events at the Echuca Racing Club.
The racing industry in the North-Central region generates $337.5 million for the Victorian economy and helps sustain over 2,900 full time equivalent jobs in the region.
