Locals and holidaymakers will be making a beeline for Boort Park on Monday, 6 January 2020 with harness racing and fun for the whole family thanks to a funding package worth more than $12,000.
Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp today announced the Andrews Labor Government is kicking in more than $6,000 from its Victorian Racing Industry Fund – Raceday Attraction Program to support the Summer Holiday Raceday meeting, while Boort Harness Racing Club is chipping in almost $6,000 towards the meeting.
The club is Australia’s oldest continuous trotting club founded in 1891, and always puts on a great race meet.
As well as cheering on a quality field, patrons will enjoy a range of fun, family activities including a water slide and fairy floss.
Popular entertainer Leigh Turner will perform live during the evening, and there’ll be lots of raceday incentives.
Since December 2014, the Labor Government has provided more than $121,000 to support seven harness events and three infrastructure projects for the Boort Harness Racing Club.
The harness racing industry in Regional Victoria generates $255.3 million for the Victorian economy and helps sustain more than 2,100 full time equivalent jobs locally.
