Cobram racecourse is the place to be this Sunday, with top harness racing and fun for the family, thanks to a funding package worth more than $27,000.
Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp today announced the Andrews Labor Government is kicking in $13,000 from its Victorian Racing Industry Fund – Raceday Attraction Program to support the Cobram Pacing Cup meeting.
The Cobram and District Harness Racing Club is investing more than $14,000 towards the meeting.
The meeting features the $35,000 Cobram Pacing Cup and also the $25,000 Cobram Trotters Cup, so there’s something for all harness racing enthusiasts.
As well as cheering on a quality field, patrons will enjoy a range of fun, family activities including a kids’ zone with giant water slide, face painting, animal zoo and giveaways.
Popular country artist Ray Macartney will perform live during the evening, there’ll be fashions on the field, and lots of raceday incentives.
Since December 2014, the Labor Government has provided more than $129,000 to support nine harness events and four infrastructure projects for the Cobram and District Harness Racing Club.
The harness racing industry in Regional Victoria generates $255.3 million for the Victorian economy and helps sustain over 2,100 full time equivalent jobs locally.
