Echuca is set to host the Winter Blues Festival thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Northern Victoria, Mark Gepp MP today announced that Echuca will once again host the Winter Blues Festival in July.
The Winter Blues Festival will be held at a multitude of venues across Echuca and Moama and is expected to attract up to 20,000 attendees.
Last year, the event included more than 50 blues music bands performing at more than 30 venues over four days and shone the spotlight on Echuca as a key tourism destination. Events like this mean serious business for Echuca. They attract tourists, support jobs, and keep local businesses busy.
The Labor Government helped support The Echuca Moama Winter Blues Festival through the $20 million Regional Events Fund, which helps rural and regional communities stage and secure events that drive visitation and boost local economies.
The Labor Government has already supported more than 130 events across regional Victoria and our major new tourism campaign, A Twist At Every Turn, is driving interstate visitation and supporting local jobs and businesses.
The Budget provides an extra $51.1 million to attract thousands more visitors from interstate and overseas, as part of Visit Victoria’s work to grow visitor spending to $36.5 billion by 2025, and create thousands of local jobs. This includes an additional $2 million boost to help Regional Tourism Boards (RTBs) and Councils grow the local visitor economy and create jobs by attracting new visitors and new events.
The Winter Blues Festival will take place on July 26-29th. For more information visit http://winterblues.com.au
