The Andrews Labor Government is fast tracking essential planning for a new infrastructure project in Kerang to support the region to thrive and boost future jobs growth.
Member for Northern Victoria, Mark Gepp MP visited Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) in Kerang today to announce $240,000 funding towards their Aboriginal Health & Wellbeing Centre Planning Project through the Victorian Government’s Investment Fast Track Fund.
The $300,000 project will enable MDAS to move their Kerang Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Centre project from the early concept plan to an investment-ready position.
MDAS will undertake community consultation, final building design, planning applications and construction planning, complete necessary soil and sustainability assessments, secure approvals and gain pre-tender estimates for future works.
Kerang Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Centre’s concept design is for a new multi-purpose facility which is anticipated to incorporate a community gathering space for the local Aboriginal community with an eco-friendly footprint, indoor/outdoor spaces, and culturally appropriate facilities for health care, mental health support, social and emotional wellbeing services, community gym and spiritual healing.
The Investment Fast Track Fund is taking projects from the ideas phase to be investment and development-ready, with grants of up to $500,000 available to local councils, community organisations and the private sector for planning, design and business case development.
The Investment Fast Track Fund is part of the Labor Government’s flagship $156 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund which helps businesses create more jobs in regional Victoria and supports councils to build the infrastructure locals and visitors need.
The Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund is part of the Government’s $30 billion investment in rural and regional Victoria since 2015.
