The Victorian Government will provide $8.967 million to continue supporting the Victorian Landcare Program and environmental volunteering.
This includes funding for the continued employment of Landcare facilitators who play a valuable role coordinating the efforts of volunteers across the state and here in Northern Victoria.
The funding is included in the recent 2020-21 Victorian State Budget and supports the contract extension of Landcare facilitator and coordinator roles through the Victorian Landcare Facilitator Program.
An application process for organisations that want to employ a Landcare Facilitator beyond 30 June 2021 will be run in early 2021.
These contract extensions for existing Landcare Facilitators and Regional Landcare Coordinators (RLCs) will ensure continuity of employment for the facilitators and coordinators in the Northern Victoria region.
Funding recipient organisations include:
Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority
- Goulburn Murray Landcare Network Inc
- Wyuna Landcare Group Inc.

Facilitators build community capacity by supporting the grass roots work of local Landcare groups, encouraging effective participation in Landcare activities and enabling groups to become self-supporting.
Landcare makes a great contribution towards protecting and improving the environment and improving farm productivity, here in Northern Victoria and across Victoria. It also provides significant social benefits.
Victorian Landcare is helping to implement the Government’s long-term biodiversity plan – Protecting Victoria’s Environment – Biodiversity 2037.
